You’ve seen those posts from Instagram influencers and famous photographers. The ones where they share their whole life story, go into excruciating detail on a family vacay gone wrong or spend an hour talking to their Instagram stories in the airport. You look at these posts and you wonder...do I need to share that much, too?
Only if you want to.
Some people build businesses around themselves. Others build businesses where they’d rather keep their personality in the background. And when you start equating your business to your personality and your personality to your business…it can start to feel weird. It can also lead to burnout, lack of boundaries, and strange parasocial relationships you may not want to deal with. You might want to keep your husband, child, or family life out of it. So, today, let's draw some smudgey, scoochable lines on how much to share of yourself in your written content for your business. Because trust me, you can still be relatable, approachable, and successful without having to bare all. I promise.
